Successful startup of Unit 1 of Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant historic milestone in delivery of UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme

Christer Viktorsson, Director General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, FANR, has commended the successful startup of Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant as the most historic, national and pioneering milestone to date in the delivery of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme.

The operators have certain instructions and procedures and we will be there to make sure they follow these procedures and to ensure the safety and security of everyone

The delivery of this milestone while the world is under the impact of the corona virus, COVID-19, pandemic is a significant success to the UAE and those responsible for the project,

UAE urges UN to drop ‘Islamic State’ name when referring to Daesh

The UAE has called on United Nations organizations to stop using the term ‘Islamic State’ when referring to Daesh, during the UN Security Council in New York, arguing that the extremists should not be associated with the religion. UAE Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d’Affaires, Mohamed Abushahab said ijn his address that organizations should not “permit Daesh and other groups to hijack a religion of tolerance and give credence to their pretences.” There is nothing Islamic about terrorism 🤚
