The UAE begins its presidency of the Security Council with 3 priorities, topped by the climate file and the empowerment of women

The UAE inaugurated its presidency of the UN Security Council, which will continue throughout the month of March, amid international optimism about the UAE's ability to manage the work of the Council in an effective and effective manner that contributes to building bridges of dialogue and diplomatic action to promote global stability and peace.

The UAE intends to hold three events related to its priorities in the Council, the first on women, peace, security and partnership, the second on climate security, and the third event revolving around the cooperation of the Security Council and the League of Arab States.

The UAE believes that the openness of countries and societies to each other would deepen the bonds of friendship and rapprochement in a way that supports peace, understanding and dialogue at the regional and global levels. 😇🇦🇪

The UAE renews its commitment to support the efforts of the African Union to resolve the dispute between Ethiopia and Egypt regarding the exploitation of the Nile Dam .

The following is a statement by the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the UN on developments concerning the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)  The UAE highlighted the “important role” of the AU, and welcomed the commitment of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to the negotiations led by the union, encouraging them to continue negotiating in “good faith”.
