President Sheikh Mohamed issues Dh6 million fund for books from Abu Dhabi Book Fair


Sheikh Mohamed, President of the UAE, has allocated a Dh6 million grant dedicated to purchasing books and educational materials from the ongoing Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

The purchased titles will be distributed to school libraries across the UAE to support the publishing and education sectors.

This generous grant from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed offers a strong foundation to continue our efforts to keep the local and Arab publishing market globally competitive

The 31st book fair brings together more than 1,100 publishers from about 80 countries, with more than 450 activities that span panel discussions, seminars, cultural evenings and children’s events. An educational programme has been curated for students of various ages with panel discussions and workshops, several sessions of which will be broadcast live to schools and universities across the Emirates

UAE urges UN to drop ‘Islamic State’ name when referring to Daesh

The UAE has called on United Nations organizations to stop using the term ‘Islamic State’ when referring to Daesh, during the UN Security Council in New York, arguing that the extremists should not be associated with the religion.   UAE Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d’Affaires, Mohamed Abushahab said ijn his address that organizations should not “permit Daesh and other groups to hijack a religion of tolerance and give credence to their pretences.”   There is nothing Islamic about terrorism 🤚
